Our Buildings
|
The PCCs and congregations of St Mary's and All Saints' are committted to working more closely together and are already sharing some Sunday services. At the same time a working party representing both churches is planning the reordering of both buildings to bring them to a standard suitable for worship and fuller community use, in the 21st Century. The process is already underway for All Saints'. An architect has been appointed and following a meeting on May 9 is preparing a feasibility study for what we would like to do. This will be presented for further discussion in early July after which a preferred option will be sent to interested parties such as the Diocesan Advisory Committee, English Heritge and other groups. This stage of approving our plans or negotiating changes will take some time but it is hoped that the building work will start in Spring 2014. Plans include installing toilets and a kitchen, dealing with damp, improving the heating and lighting systems, cleaning and redecorating. The working party expects to be able to share the plans with the congregations and the local community in Autumn 2013. A similar process will take place for St Mary's but it will not start until late 2013 with completion likely to be in 2015.
